Uniandes presented its new Center of Social Impact Studies

The Faculty of Social Sciences of Universidad de los Andes presented its Center of Social Impact Studies with the purpose of showing and documenting the impact and application of the research on social science. The researchers of this Faculty are gathered by this Center in order to offer specialized consultancy to government, private sector and international cooperation.

The presentation was made with the First Social Impact Seminar on March 1st. For this event, we had Eduardo Chaparro, director of EU Project: Mineral Development Network Platform; Vanessa Coronado, Chief of Enviromental Mining Issues and Energy Ministry; Margarita Serje, Director of the Department of Anthropology at Universidad de los Andes; and Pablo Jaramillo, director of the Center of Social Impact Studies.

Research associated with this Center focuses on social problems in sectors as infrastructure, mining, oil and agroindustrial projects.

This Center is directed by Pablo Jaramillo, professor of the Department of Anthropology. He is Doctor in Philosophy in Social Anthropology of the University of Manchester and anthropologist of Universidad de Caldas.
