Two students from the Faculty of Engineering received the Roberto Rocca scholarship for 1,500 USD thanks to their personal and academic qualities.

María Camila Rodríguez, a fifth semester student in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering, and Miguel Alexander Sotelo, who is in the sixth semester of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, received a scholarship from the Roberto Rocca Educational Program, whose objective is to encourage the study of science and engineering In the countries in which Tenaris, or any company of the conglomerate Techint, has presence.

"We believe that industry is the driving force of society, so the company tries to promote careers such as engineering. Our program is based on excellence, which is another characteristic element of the organization that is promoted internally, so it is not only being a professional, but being the best, "said Francisco Ruiz, Director of Human Resources for the Andean region. Tenaris, during the presentation of the scholarship to the two Uniandinos students on March 30, 2017.

Another of the criteria that are considered to grant the scholarship to students is their potential for leadership and commitment to the economic and industrial progress of Colombia. Therefore, the beneficiaries of the Roberto Rocca Scholarship must go through an exhaustive selection process, similar to the one the company makes for any recruitment.

For Maria Camila Rodríguez, one of the beneficiaries, the main reason for being an engineer is to work in the development of fully sustainable processes and industries in the country. For his part, Miguel Alexander Sotelo assures that his interest is the research and development of materials, as well as the understanding of structures and mechanisms.

The organization bets on outstanding students of the best universities because it knows that this is to support valuable talent that can be linked with them when they finish their university education. "We are interested in having a long-term relationship with our beneficiaries, and why not, that someday they can be part of our group," added Ruiz.

Currently, Tenaris is the largest producer of oil pipe in the world, and is part of the steel conglomerate Techint. In addition, the Roberto Rocca Educational Program is a tribute to the work of the son of the founder of Techint, who has always shown an interest in education and supported several initiatives focused on learning and research.
